Mike Perry: Potential BKFC Superfight with Conor McGregor "Very Realistic"

Mike Perry believes that a potential fight with Conor McGregor in the BKFC ring could actually happen if everything falls into place.

Currently, the face of BKFC is set to face Jeremy Stevens in Perry’s King of Violence title at the main event of BKFC 82, which will be held on October 4th at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

During the BKFC 82 press conference, promoter David Feldman said that McGregor was unable to achieve that as he was preparing to face the winner of the Perry vs. Stevens matchup. Perry was asked if there was a chance that a fight with McGregor, who is currently on a UFC contract, could actually happen.

“Yeah, Connor has had a great promotion with the company,” Perry told MMA Fighting while promoting Friday’s DBX 3 event in Miami. “I took him to the ring in April (2023) so I could fight him and he could go back to the ring again… And I hadn’t got a fight so I got it. But once I really dig and got my diet really hard, they told me all year round I was going to fight, but maybe I wasn’t properly committed myself and wanted to be my best self regardless of the competition.

“After a few weeks of queueing up, doing it, and then we got booked, we were booked. Fighting Connor would be incredibly incredible as you know he’s having itching.

McGregor is one of the co-owners of BKFC, a former two-division UFC champion and the biggest star in the history of the sport. “The Notorious” has not competed for more than four years since he suffered a nasty foot injury to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in a TKO loss. McGregor was booked in June 2021 with a long-standing return to Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303, but McGregor retracted due to injury. The Irish star has been on a very roller coaster ride since his past battles, including legal trouble.

Since leaving the UFC, Perry has achieved incredible success with BKFC. This includes a halt victory over former UFC champion Lukrock Hold and Eddie Alvarez, as well as a victory over current UFC fighter Michael Page. If “Platinum” can clean up Stevens and do that in style, Perry doesn’t see a reason why a fight with McGregor won’t happen.

“Whether it’s boxing or MMA, they see naked knuckles and say, ‘I really don’t want to do that,’ they get annoyed, he’s interested in exposed knuckles. There is real, real, big money in it. And for Connor to get a huge money offer on the table against a top naked knuckle guy like me, I think it’s just fun for all involved.

“Eddie knows Connor has a good hand. I mean, Eddie landed me a few shots. I don’t know. He was a bit bouncy that night. He was moving (well) in that weight class. Connor toasted Eddie.

“I think we’re in a good fight on October 4th. That’s what’s important for now, and if I keep building myself, making enough noise and doing enough shows and performances. I think the chances of Connor coming in and fighting is very real.
