Mikey Musumeci is officially the face of UFC BJJ.
Musumeci, the first grappling athlete to be signed by the UFC, has been widely seen as the face of the push to a competitive grappling in the promotion, claiming his first bantamweight title on Wednesday night in a victory in submission against Rerisson Gabriel at UFC BJJ 1.
Known for his high octane leg attack game, Musmesi wasted a little time doing the attack, forcing multiple leg entanglements and attacking with heel hook attempts. Gabriel thwarted Musumeci in the first two rounds and showed off a spectacular defence. However, in the third round, Musumeci was able to lock the hook on his heel, and Gabriel rolled across the mat, but was unable to escape and forced to tap.
