AC Milan has long been interested in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, and according to Calciomercato, they are preparing an offer to get his services in January.
Gomez has won very few game time under Arneslot this season. So far, he has been the only start to take part in the Carabao Cup with Southampton and twice from the Premier League bench. As versatile as he is – the centre-back, who can play literally anywhere across the backline, has tested several times as a defensive midfielder – the 28-year-old hasn’t played the level he needs to seriously challenge his starting spot for a while.
Gomez reportedly approached Milan at the end of the summer, but Liverpool failed to sign Mark Guech from Crystal Palace, opposed to reducing the number of central centers in the team.
In January, Gomez has 18 months left on the contract, and Liverpool is likely not going to enjoy selling cut prices at that point, so it remains to be seen whether Rossoneri will be able to offer an offer he thinks would be acceptable.
