The one Milwaukee Bucks star is rumoured to be on his way out of the team after a successful seven-year stint.
The Milwaukee Bucks have lost in the first round in their third consecutive season.
First, it was the double NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Despite Antetokounmpo not requesting an official deal, his name was the mainstay of mock trades and rumors.
The Bucks may not lose Giannis, but the organization may have to say goodbye to Brooke Lopez in free agency.
The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to become an active team in NBA free agency. Even after the 2025 NBA Draft, the Lakers have yet to find a solid center that can fit properly alongside the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Lukadon Sic.
According to NBA insider Jake Fisher, the Lakers Hunt to the Elite Center could end with Lopez joining the roster.
“But this time, many rival teams are running through the Los Angeles Lakers screaming for center to run to keep Lopez away from the Bucks,” Fisher reported about the Steinline.
Fisher said the Lakers could chase after Atlanta Hawks’ Clint Capella, but the bottom line is that the Bucks could say goodbye to Lopez next week or so.
“Even if the Lakers were planning to deal with the centrevolution by pursuing Atlanta’s Clint Capella instead, there may be targets that are not often discussed, but after a seven-season stint that was extremely successful alongside Giannis Anteto Compo, Lopez will actually move,” he added.
In his seven seasons with the Bucks, Lopez averaged 13.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the team.
However, Lopez’s greatest strength is not his score or rebound, but his ability to knock down a 3-pointer, as Lopez shot 35.7% from the deep despite being center.
With that in mind, Lopez is being tilted to leave the Bucks this offseason. The Lakers are interested in him, but another Western Conference team was able to seek his services.
The Golden State Warriors are linked to Lopez. Given that Warriors’ Kevon Rooney may leave the franchise, it makes sense for Dub to replace him with another elite center.
