In 2024-25, the Milwaukee Bucks finished 48-34. This is the ninth season in a row with at least 42 wins. The Bucks finished as the fifth seed in the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Milwaukee lost the opening round series 4-1 to the Indiana Pacers. ESPN’s Shams Charania received reports on Bucks’ two MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. He said the 30-year-old will explore whether staying in Milwaukee would be best suited for his career. This is the first time that Giannis has shown he is willing to leave the Bucks.

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo play for the Bucks from 2025-26?

Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has not made a solid decision, but for the first time in his career, he is open to his heart as to whether his best fit remains in Milwaukee.

In the third straight postseason, the Milwaukee Bucks were beaten in the first round. The team has yet to reach the championship level they achieved in the 2021 playoffs. One of the biggest stories of this offseason is the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo from Bucks. The nine-time All-Star is reportedly considering leaving the Bucks this offseason. It is the first time in his professional career that he has been open about the possibility of leaving and playing elsewhere.

ESPN’s Shamscharania reported that Antetocomo is “open minded” about exploring whether Milwaukee is his best long-term fit. Antetokounmpo has played 12 seasons for the Bucks and is one of the greatest players in franchise history. However, Antetokounmpo is at a crossroads this offseason. Will he remain loyal to the Bucks or will he find a new home with his greatest interest in mind?

The 2024-25 season was the second consecutive year for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who averaged 30-10-5 with 60% shooting. No other players in NBA history have done it at least once. Antetokounmpo remains one of the most dominant players in the league. If the Bucks are willing to say goodbye to Giannis, he will become one of the hottest trade goals. Did Giannis Antetokounmpo play his final game for the Bucks, or will he remain loyal to the team that drafted him? He was on a contract until the 2026-27 season and has a $54 million cap hit from 2025-25. This includes $62.7 million player options for 2026-27.
