Dana White and the UFC don’t keep a secret that they are always heading for the future.
This week, the partnership became official as combat sports leaders announced a multi-year contract with Zuckerberg’s Meta Corporation with a focus on “fan technology.” White also mentioned his expectations that team-up will become the UFC’s overhauled ranking system, but he has yet to specify exactly what has been changed and how those expected improvements will be implemented.
White didn’t explicitly mention AI in this week’s press release, but he previously stated that although there aren’t many words, the ranking of algorithms is the best way to ensure that fighters are slotted in the right place. It’s not like someone else came up with a great ranking set.
Fans are skeptical of how this partnership actually leads to improved viewing experiences and when more substantial bells and whistles are intended to drive more cash into TKO’s pockets.
