“Lio-lion” screams again.
There were a lot of storylines coming out of UFC 314. Patricio Pitbull Bomb! Jean Silva is an insane person! – And what’s somewhat lost in the shuffle was the announcement of Amanda Nunes, who returned to the competition after resigning in 2023.
Perhaps it wasn’t so surprising that the former bantamweight and featherweight champions decided to return to the Octagon. Nunes, 36, literally did it all in MMA, and she had a lot to do with her personal life and her mother of two. So it was always a matter of her timing.
It’s time for Juliana Pena to defend her bantamweight title against Kayla Harrison at UFC 316 on June 7th. No matter who wins, Nunes has to be motivated. Pena has earned a massive upset against Nunes at UFC 269 and despite being hit BL in the rematch in five rounds, Pena has never given up calling for Nunes for a trilogy match.
As for Harrison, the two-time PFL champion and Nunes’ former training partner has long been considered the most interesting test of the recently announced Hall of Fame. As she passes Pena, she becomes deafening in search of the battle for Nunez Harrison.
