His final T20I appearance was against England on February 2 at Wangkhed Stadium in Mumbai, where he bagged three wickets. However, he played the game mainly in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Despite being the proven match winner, Mohammed Shami was not selected in India’s Asian Cup 2025 team, with the selectors being named Jaspuri Bumra, Harshit Rana and Ashdeep Singh.
Meanwhile, Shami will next be seen in action in Duleep Trophy 2025, which will start on August 28th, with Premier Pacers seen in action in the first game as the East Zone locks the horn in the North Zone.
In an interview with Manak Gupta of News 24, Shami said he was ready to play the Asian Cup completely but was not selected. “When I was playing Duleep Trophy, I was ready for the Asian Cup too,” he said.
