  • Will India receive the Asian Cup Trophy?

Former Indian spinner Harbhajansing has condemned the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Committee and the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, Mohshinnakvi, following the controversy over the Asian Cup 2025 Trophy. Harbhajan said it was not “large enough to decide whether the trophy should be awarded” and added that the BCCI will receive it.

Tensions erupted after the Asian Cup 2025 Finals held at Dubai International Stadium on September 28th. Suryakumalyadav decided not to accept the trophy from Mohshinnaqvi after securing a five-wicket victory over Pakistan. Naqvi then took the trophy and the winner’s medal to the hotel.

The presentation after the 2025 Asian Cup match was over 90 minutes late

The post-match presentation of the Asian Cup 2025 was over 90 minutes late. The Indian team refused to directly accept the trophy from Pakistan’s Home Minister and Mohsin Naqvi, who shared controversial posts on social media.

Individual awards were given to players such as Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma and Kuldeep Yadav, but India did not receive the trophy on the podium. Naqvi eventually left the stadium with a trophy, causing criticism and was labeled unprofessional by many.

The silverware is reportedly at ACC headquarters now, and Naqvi said he intends to hand it over to India. However, the Indian team is reluctant to receive the trophy directly from him.

Don’t think MohsinNaqvi is big enough – Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh said the controversy over the Asian Cup trophy and handshake saga will not change the outcome. He emphasized India’s winning the tournament, adding that there is no point in delaying the handover of the trophies.

“A lot happened during the Asian Cup. About the saga of handshakes – before that, the bigger question was whether the match should happen at all,” News18 quoted Harbhajan as saying.

“India won the tournament. That’s their biggest trophy. I don’t think it’s big enough to tell if Naqvi or someone else should award the trophy. If not today, put it aside tomorrow.

Will India receive the Asian Cup Trophy?

Following the Asian Cup 2025, it has been reported that Mohshin Nakvi has apologized for his post-match fiasco. However, Naqvi has denied the claims and calls them “propaganda manufactured” by Indian media. He even said that India can collect trophies directly from the ACC office.

At the ACC Annual General Meeting in Dubai, BCCI representatives Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shera disputed, saying that the trophies belong to the ACC, not the individual. Naqvi refused to clarify when the trophy would be handed over.

The BCCI made it clear that the issue would escalate to the ICC during its November 2025 meeting. In particular, India ruled all three encounters against Pakistan. This includes a five-wicket victory in the final, demonstrating their superiority over the big festival.
