The Los Angeles have not had superstar Mookie Betts since the last two Cactus League contests of spring training.
He traveled to Japan with his team, but he missed the exhibition game and was on a plane home before the first day. It was announced that the 2018 American League MVP will return to the starting lineup for Sunday’s Highway Series games with the Los Angeles Angels, but he was a slow scratch in the lineup and did not win the field again.

Betts opened up to the media during Sunday’s game, making it a little more clear about how serious this strange stomach bug is.
“My body is just eating itself,” Betts said. “It’s hard not to fuel it, so every time – literally, every time – I fuel my body and throw it away.”
He added: “I don’t know what to do.”
Shortstop was able to hold back the smoothie during his illness, resulting in his weight dropping from 175 pounds (his mark at the beginning of spring) to 157.

He detailed the reporters what it was like to travel around the world during his poor health, but was sent home from Tokyo before the first pitch of the new season was thrown.
“It was cruel to board the plane,” Betts said. “It was one of the worst airplane rides I’ve ever had. (i) I got there and got one training. It was a really bad trip to Tokyo. I was back on another bad plane. It wasn’t very encouraging, but that’s it.”
Throughout everything, Betts is a competitor. You won’t win three World Series trophies without the desire to fight through adversity.
“I just want to play, guy,” Betts said. “I’m tired of sitting down and just throwing it at me, tired of doing all this. I just want to play.”
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Betts will be out again on Monday, but the superstar must heal and regain his weight so that he doesn’t suffer any further risky injuries by being too aggressive during his return.
His position on Thursday’s first day is very problematic.
