Betts has dealt with illness, but unfortunately he is not healthy enough to fit.
The are thinking of sending him home early.
Betts has been dealing with the illness for the past week, losing nearly 15 pounds per Roberts. He didn’t suit any of the two exhibit games over the weekend, so he was hoping to be re-evaluated in Monday’s training.
Unfortunately, Betts has not participated in training and has been officially ruled out in both games with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Roberts said he was worried that the would be susceptible to soft tissue damage, especially as they transitioned to shortstops.
“The problem is, when you lose a lot of weight, when you’re dehydrated, it opens up people up to soft tissue injuries,” Roberts said. “We’re very careful about that. The next week… do some baseball activities to back him up, his strength, his strength, and prepare for the home opener.”
Who will replace the Mookie Betts in the Tokyo Series?
Roberts said Miguel Rojas will replace Betts with a short stop. In the La lineup, the Cubs will have two left-handers on the mound of the Tokyo Series, Shota Imanaga and Justin Steele – Rojas will have two opportunities behind the lineup.
Betts will spend 11 days to recover more fully than his first day in the country on March 27th against the Detroit Tigers.
