Daniel Cormier is not interested in rekindling his feud with John Jones.
“Bones” was recently answering questions from YouTube fans. Cormier and Jones had two memorable fights in Light Heavyweight, both of which were won by Jones (their second meeting was not suppressed when Jones tested positive for a substance that was later banned).
Adding the UFC heavyweight title to the trophy case, Jones expressed confidence that he not only defeated Cormier again, but also “worse” than when he defeated Cormier at 205 pounds.
During the ESPN segment to promote the next season The ultimate fighterCormier even addressed Jones’ comments and was confused about the topic coming.
“John Jones said when I was fighting aggressively, “I wouldn’t be fighting Daniel at the heavyweight division because that would give him an advantage. That’s the best place he is,” Colmier said. “I’m 46 and I’m retired. I rock the golf club in my free time. He’s out of my heart.”
Cormier is not wrong.
In 2019, Jones said in an interview with BT Sports that he has no interest in fighting Cormier in the heavyweight division.
“Daniel Cormier is a special athlete and anyone could be beaten,” Jones said. “I think my biggest chance of losing is giving a guy like Daniel Cormier the advantages of power and power over me, but that doesn’t make sense.
“Now I’m making light heavyweights very easily. It’s pointless to fight someone who I think technically (is) at your level. And to give him the advantage of size, I’m not doing it. I’m not doing it.

“He actually said that,” Cormier said. “He was like, ‘I’m not going to fight Daniel at heavyweight.’ This is when I was fighting aggressively, John and I are dead.
