Morning Report: Movsar Evloev plans to “break” Alexander Volkanovski, who promises “straight strike” in the title fight

Movsar Evloev has never lost and doesn’t expect that to change if he fights for the UFC featherweight title.

The next challenger in that belt has not been seen with Alexander Volkanovsky regaining it in a vintage performance with Diego Lopez at UFC 314. Volkanovski became a two-time champion, following Ilia Topuria, moving the title lighter.

Evloev is 9-0 in the UFC and has a good case to get a championship opportunity just like anyone. I’m sure in the near future if he squares with Volkanovski, he will be the second fighter to defeat the Australian star at 145 pounds.

“If I face him, I think I’ll just push him into the wall,” Evloev said. Overdog podcast. “So don’t let him get away from me, don’t move him, and he has to trade for me. Then he gets tired. Or I’ll break him.

One of the obstacles standing in the way of Evloev is what appears to be indifferent on the part of the matchmaker. Evloev was impressed within Octagon with victory over former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, top contender Arnold Allen and even Lopes, who won a short-term debut with Evloev. However, he has not yet completed his opponent since joining the UFC in 2019.

Evloev was actually planning to show a more dynamic fighting style against Sterling in the UFC 310, but Sterling tried to test Evloev’s wrestling, bringing him the fighting and victory that might not be enough to win a title shot.

“For my final fight with Aljo, I was almost 100% focused on the strike as the UFC was just talking about ‘I have no finish, I’m just wrestling style’. “But in this fight, my opponent tried to get me down and do jiu-jitsu, so I don’t show it. So it’s not easy to show something impressive when I’m rolling the floor.”

In fact, Evloev has a huge amount of faith in his blow. He will focus on setting up a fight and win, no matter who stands across from him for the title fight.

“Okay, if you give me a title shot, I can promise that I won’t beat anyone,” Evloev said. “I’m not going there first. If they’re going to get me down, OK, I’ll accept this, but I’m not going first. I’ll just go straight.
