LeBron James faces decisions about his future and already he is encouraged to leave La Lakers behind.
With the LA Lakers removed from the NBA playoffs in the first round, attention is already turning into a future decision.
General Manager Rob Perinka is already working on the media and is making sure the Lakers try to address their bright weaknesses by adding sizes to their team.
Perinka is hoping LeBron James will return, but the superstar says he will talk to his family before confirming his plans.
Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce believes it’s time for LeBron James to finish his stint with the LA Lakers, where he has been with since 2018.
Pierce believes this is the right move for the franchise. The franchise has been seen by LeBron James since its arrival from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He pointed out the Lakers’ latest superstar and said that it might be easier for the team to build a winning team around Luka Donsic without LeBron.
Pierce explained:
“They have to find their way. He grasped the whole organization and hugged them for a long time. He’s going to do some great things and probably create a statue of him.
“They have to say, ‘Fine, we appreciate your service, I think we should move on.’
“It’s a tough conversation. Now is the time of Luke’s time.”
“I don’t know if you can move forward together because you have to have a certain type of team around Luka to win. And he, along with LeBron, he can’t create it.”
The La Lakers project moved with the arrival of Luka Doncic, prompting a hard reset mid-season.
This brought a real challenge to LeBron James, and he had to play like he had never done before, but at 40 he hadn’t had much role.
The problem was that the production around them wasn’t enough, and LeBron took a step back from time to time in the playoffs, which may be due to the situation he was in.
Jeff Teague noted that he felt LeBron was not fully involved during the playoffs. And if he has a team he really feels he can believe in, this could turn it around.
The big question is whether he feels he can find a better situation elsewhere, and Paul Pierce certainly believes it’s time to explore it.
