MIAMI – Dominic Reyes claims he has the best left hand in the MMA now.
The statement can be discussed, but Reyes’s power and timing were fully exhibited on Saturday at the UFC 314 main card opener. Reyes (15-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) flattened opponent Nikita Krylov (29-10 MMA, 11-8 UFC) at Kaseya Center.
“I’m going to tell you now that I have the best rest for the game,” Reyes told MMA Junkies and other reporters at a postwar press conference. “There’s no debate about that. …Alex has a left hook. I have a pull two. He’s an orthodox fighter. I’m a Southpaw.
There is nothing but love between Reyes and Pereira (12-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC). The two were trained together in 2022 ahead of Pereira’s first MMA matchup with Israel Adesanya, who was on the same card as the Battle of Rayel vs Ryan Span.
Since then, Reyes and Pereira have diverged. Reyes expressed indifference to his prospects for fighting Pereira. But the training reunion, Reyes hopes to happen.
“I definitely have to see you again,” Reyes said. “When I was at the bottom they were so kind to me. I just respect those people for the rest of my life for the sake of love and respect, so I want to see him again.
The 35-year-old Reyes could be one fight from the UFC title shot. He made a U-turn in momentum in his career with three straight wins that came after a loss of four straights. Reyes called the best of his life last year.
“Pure praise,” Reyes said. “I make sure everything I do is right.
