Coconut Creek, Fla. – Movsar Evloev wants crack in the UFC featherweight title. And if that doesn’t happen, he wants someone the UFC considers as a No. 1 candidate.
Evloev (19-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) has been campaigning for title shots for quite some time, but he has not been able to secure it. He hopes that there will be a champion in the division, given that Alexander Volkanovsky won the vacant belt last Saturday in the main event of UFC 314 in Miami.
But fan favorite Yair Rodriguez also wants, which may be problematic for Evloev’s title dream.
“Yair, if you want to fight for the title, you have to beat me first and you deserve it,” Evloev told MMA Junkie.
“I think it was forever the best fight for Air Rodriguez. In ‘Pit Bull’ he’s a dangerous opponent, but I don’t think it’s enough to fight for the tile,” Ivroev said. “Because he had a chance and he just skipped it.”
Evloev is training and ready to fight in the UFC Championship battle if necessary. If Volkanovski needs more time before the title defense, he is even happy to sit on the sidelines.
“If Volkanovski is looking for a fight with me, I can wait and improve myself, stay prepared, improve my skills, everything,” says Evloev. “It doesn’t matter if it’s something like September, October, December. He can wait as long as he needs to. But if there’s something else for the title, I’m not going to wait much.”
