If he beat Della Madarena with “I remember,” Makhachev would probably have been placed at 155.

Speaking to Chael Sonnen, Mokaev believes there is still a way to generate Makhachev vs. Topuria, but that depends on all the fighters coming to the top on their next outing.

Fans want to see stars and stars rather than just weight class.
If Islam defeated Ilia, people will say, “He defeated 145er.” But if Islam wins the welterweight title and Ilia beats Oliveira, they’re even bigger fights. I want to see Islam become champions, Ilia become champions, and they fight with catchweights. It’s a super fight. ”
Makhachev has yet to book an inevitable conflict with Della Maddalena, but Topuria already has the date of the first crack in Lightweight Gold. El Matador’ meets former 155-pound champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 on June 28th, with the winner leaving as the division’s new top dog.
