Michael Jordan is considered a basketball goat, but what made him great?
Is it his meticulous 6-0 NBA final record or is it his ability to score on Will from anywhere on the court? These are certainly important contributors.
But the recent answers from former NBA player Mycal Thompson about his distinguishedness towards playing against Michael Jordan shows that he’s made the Chicago Bulls legend so great.
During his career, Thompson has faced MJ 13 times, including the postseason. In these games, Jordan has a 7-6 victory record against Thompson.
Thompson, who played Mike vs. Mike, recently shared two cents about the key quality of the Bulls legend.
“About Jordan, you couldn’t rattle him. This guy’s heart was steel and he was so crazy,” Thompson told ESPN LA.
But is Jordan the only player who had the nerve of steel? According to Thompson, Kobe Bryant, a legend of La Lakers, is approaching him in that division.
“He and the people like Kobe, they both were like that,” he added.
Speaking about Bryant next, Thompson explained why Bryant became the “ultimate competitor” in his story about the Lakers’ losses in the 2004 NBA Finals at the hands of the Detroit Pistons.
“It didn’t matter what you threw at him. He wasn’t restricted, shaking or shaking, despite the piston beat him, throwing him away, essentially trying to get him out of the game.
“He never retreated. He was the ultimate competitor,” Thompson concluded.
Well, it took a few years, but Kobe eventually bouncing off, leading the Lakers to back-to-back NBA championships in 2009 and 2010.
He silenced critics who believed Mamba could not win the ring on his side without Shaquille O’Neill.
