The Los Angeles Lakers made a mistake by signing Alex Wren.

Anthony Davis was hoping to spend the rest of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the organization was unable to give up on his offer to win a generation of superstars with Luka Doncic.

The blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks remains one of the most scrutinized deals in league history, but let’s turn it into a backburner.

Instead, let’s focus on the aftermath of Davis’ departure. With the ads gone, the Lakers no longer had a massive elite anchor. They tried to fill in the blank by signing Alex Wren, but it turned out to be a terrible decision.

When the Lakers signed Ren, they basically had a quality big guy, Jackson Hayes. After all, the organization has retreated from the Mark Williams Trade.

It was soon revealed that Ren was not fit into the current Lakers system, especially due to his sudden decline. What’s surprising is the fact that the Lakers scouting department should have seen it come.

why? Well, it doesn’t take more than a few minutes to find the Minnesota Timberwolves Naz Reid who will absolutely erase Alex Ren on the Rim in 2023.

The virus clip came from the 2022-23 NBA season when Len was a member of the Sacramento Kings. He was only 29 years old at the time.

Fast forward to the 2024-25 NBA season, Len is two years older and is now even more regressed as a defender.

The Timberwolves’ Big-Man lineup ran for the Lakers for money in the opening round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.

In all fairness, coach JJ Reddick was partially responsible for not playing Hayes in the right few minutes, but Ren was a waste of the playoff roster.

Ren is featured in two games, with an average of just 2.0 minutes per game. That certainly makes fans wonder if the Lakers should abandon Christian Wood in support of Wren.

In fact, they might have gone with Trey Jemison or Christian Coroco.
