The LA Lakers have done a lot of work this offseason, with one rival NBA executive giving his views on the new look roster.
The Los Angeles Lakers knew they had to come in the offseason and make some big moves to improve their roster.
Things didn’t start well for them as Dorian Finney Smith left the Lakers for the rocket, but they bouncing off in an epic way.
The Lakers signed Jake Laravia and DeAndre Ayton to strengthen their ranks. And a few weeks later, thanks to Luka Doncic, the Lakers added Marcus Smart to their roster.
As things stand, the Lakers won’t be able to move any more. If this is their final roster, it’s very strong. And a few NBA officials seem to agree.
An anonymous NBA executive recently spoke to Lakers Nation. When discussing the signatures created by Rob Pelinka and the front office, they were very free.
The executive pointed out that the Lakers were able to score a #3 seed on a weak roster. And now they’ve done some upgrades so they managed to run to the Western Conference Finals.
“They were the third seed last year and did it without a starting level center. They definitely got better with the addition of Ayton and Smart.
“I can see them making a meeting final. You can never count LeBron. I don’t care how old he is. He’s still amazing offensively.
“Everyone continues talking about Luka, who takes care of his weight loss. He’s probably hungry to win next season.”
In the same report, Lakers Nation also reported that coach JJ Redick has decided what his starting lineup and rotation will be.
The table below shows how Redick uses players.
| Starting lineup | Second unit |
| Luka Donsic | Marcus Smart |
| Austin plays | Gabe Vincent |
| LeBron James | JCLARAVIA |
| Rui Hachimura | Jarred Vanderbilt |
| Deandre Ayton | Jackson Hayes |
This looks like a very strong spin and the Lakers could cause serious damage in the Western Conference.
Luka Doncic and Lebron James have to put a heavy load on the team as stars. But along with other players, they have some reliable works that can remove some of that load.
