NBA legend Michael Jordan will soon begin his journey as an analyst during the 2025-26 season.
The six-time NBA champion and Chicago Bulls icon will launch a new segment on NBC called “MJ: Insights to Excellence.”
But even before the pilot for Michael Jordan’s show was released, one NBA expert slammed the new corner.
At the height of his career, Jordan was known for his incredible basketball prowess on the court. Whether it was his clutch shots in the NBA Finals or his unstoppable scoring ability, MJ captivated fans.
However, after a long NBA career, Jordan vowed to live a normal life after retirement. Jordan successfully did so over the years before signing with NBC as an analyst.
Speaking of which, NBA expert Dave Jacoby is furious after criticizing MJ’s new show.
“This is what you’re going to get: a pre-recorded, edited, canned, inauthentic, not live, boring Michael Jordan in an environment that he’s comfortable with and that he can control,” Jacoby said on The Ringer NBA.
“This is going to be the fluffiest, softest little thing you’ve ever seen. And they already have shots from the first segment, which means they’ve already recorded it.”
At this time, the network has not provided further details about Jordan’s role. However, if Jacoby’s claims are true, it will be disappointing for fans.
More than 20 years after his retirement, Jordan remains one of the most popular NBA stars in the world.
With that in mind, NBC’s new segment is sure to garner millions of views. But Jacoby wants Jordan to stay away from pre-recorded shows.
“I want Michael Jordan to be one of those guys who sits at his desk live and reacts to his guys and the play in front of the screen,” he said.
Jordan promises to clear up some misconceptions about NBA stars, but it would be even more interesting to do it on live TV.
After all, it was the Bulls legend’s decision, and avid basketball fans will likely tune in to watch either way.
