Bronnie James showed off his athleticism along with his development in his NBA Summer League debut with the LA Lakers.
Bronnie James is perhaps the most scrutinized NBA prospect to join the league in recent memory. LeBron James’ son was a late second round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
However, because of his last name, Bronnie attracted a lot of media attention in his rookie season. James was often compared to his father, despite everyone in the NBA knowing he wasn’t at league level yet.
James adjusted the noise on his side. And he had a decent rookie year with the La Lakers and their G-League side. When given the opportunity with the Lakers, Bronney impressed head coach JJ Redick.
Towards his sophomore year, Bronnie had plans to develop into a better player. And its development was fully on display in the Lakers’ G-League game against the Miami Heat.
Bronnie James made his debut with the La Lakers last night in the 2025 NBA Summer League, scoring 10 points in just 11 minutes.
NBA fans were excited that Bronnie had such a strong performance, including a glorious first break dunk.
One fan wrote, “He knows his role and is trying to perfect it, you can’t hate it.”
Another fan was amazed at his athletic ability and said, “I’ve seen him lift off before, because I know he got Bron’s genes, but it was unexpected like hell.”
A third fan shared the sentiment, saying, “He bought his father’s dunk package like 2K.”
Comments on Bronnie’s athletic ability continued, claiming that one fan was “surprising, he didn’t know he had that type of elevation.”
Another fan reminded fans that Bronnie has to overcome, saying, “Bronnie will surprise many people this year. He has a product. He needs his rep and time to recover from cardiac arrest.”
Fans have encouraged Bronnie to start filming more.
As we know, LeBron James has accepted the Lakers $52.6 million player option and suggested that he might see his future outside of the franchise.
LeBron knows that the Lakers prioritize buildings around Luka Donsic. So, if they can’t build a competitor around him, he may look elsewhere for a more realistic competitor he can play.
LeBron James, now 40, is nearing the end of his career. So he wants to compete in the NBA Championship for the last time before retiring.
Perhaps he can eventually team up with longtime friend Chris Paul. Chris Paul has retired from the NBA this season.
However, James also needs to consider the future of his son when making a decision with the Lakers. If James is about to leave the team, it would not be surprising that he would want Brony to leave with him.
