The Dallas Mavericks’ poor performance continued and they lost in the regular season.
The Dallas Mavericks recently played against the Eastern Conference powerhouse New York Knicks.
The game was close, but in the end the Mavericks suffered a heartbreaking 113-111 loss to the Knicks.
Does Nico Harrison deserve to be fired?
As a result, the Mavericks fell to the 13th seed in the Western Conference and have an abysmal record of 4 wins and 12 losses this season.
In their most recent loss, the Mavs came close to tying the game and sending the game into overtime. In fact, the Mavericks’ Brandon Williams had the ball in his hands for the final possession.
Williams drove to the rim while being guarded by the Knicks’ Landry Shamet, but the Mavs’ No. 10 took the shot and expected a foul call from the referees.
A whistle was called, but Williams committed an offensive foul, giving the Knicks the advantage. X’s NBA fans had a lot to say about it.
One fan pointed out, “My brother wrapped his arms around me so much that his hands touched my own.” Meanwhile, another added: “That call shouldn’t be the end of the game.”
A third fan wrote: “He didn’t have to do that and did the cooking himself so yeah, good decision.”
“If Shai had made that move, he would have sent the defender off with just a breath,” said one fan taking a shot at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
“This is the worst call of the season and it’s nowhere near that,” a disgruntled fan yelled.
Regardless of whether this decision was correct or not, the Mavericks suffered their 12th loss of the season at a time when each game was extremely important for the franchise.
Looking at the current state of the Mavericks, it’s hard to believe they’ll make it to the 2024 NBA Finals. Nico Harrison paid the price for his mistake in trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, but it’s still not enough.
Where will Anthony Davis be traded after Nico Harrison is fired?
The next logical step seems to be trading away Anthony Davis and building from the ground up around Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
If the front office goes ahead with this plan, it would also mean parting ways with Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson, both of whom are already in their 30s.
