The Minnesota Timberwolves added a five-year veteran to their roster.
Heading into the 2025-26 NBA season, the Minnesota Timber Wolves will ultimately aim to pass the hump of the Western Conference Finals.
The dynamic duo of Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle plays the most important role, but Timberwolves also needs a solid supporting cast.
With that in mind, T-Wolves signed Alize Johnson to a one-year contract prior to NBA training camp.
According to NBA insider Shamschalania, the timing of the deal will allow Johnson to compete in NBA training camps.
Speaking of 29 years old, X’s NBA fans didn’t shy away from dropping him a huge admiration. In fact, some also call him “The Next Jimmy Butler.”
“Are we talking about the next Jimmy Butler, Pacers legend, Allies Johnson?” wrote one fan. Another one has been added, “League Smash News.”
“Jimmy Butler is back with the Timberwolves,” the third fan said.
“Solid picks. Alize always brings energy to the board and brings hustle play,” said the fourth fan.
“I will never forget how wonderful he was to be in my My League in 2K at the time,” another fan recalled.
Plus, since 2022, the power forward has returned to the league, so many fans have called him an Indiana Pacers legend.
Most fans made butler comparisons for Johnson’s hustle and bustle on the court. But when it comes to statistics, Johnson isn’t close to the Golden State Warriors star.
Over the course of five years, Johnson averaged 2.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game, while playing in just 76 games.
On top of that, the Timberwolves became Johnson’s seventh team in his NBA career, indicating that he failed to gain team trust.
Is Johnson’s stint different with the Timberwolves? Fans will know when the regular season begins.
