Can the Boston Celtics make a big hit move for the Cooper Flag?
Cooper Flag is undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects to join the NBA in quite a while. Duke’s standout looks like a perfect player at the age of 18.
The Dallas Mavericks have won the NBA Draft Lottery over the past week, despite having a lower than 2% chance of landing their first overall pick.
All controversy aside, this was a great turn of the Mavericks’ fortunes, and its future appeared to be in danger after trading Luka Donsic.
But what if Nico Harrison lives in the worst fears of Mavericks fans and trades the first overall pick? Well, one meeting at the NBA Draft Combine suggests that it’s not impossible.

NBA insider Kevin O’Connor revealed that Cooper Flag is one of the players the Boston Celtics interviewed in the NBA Draft Combine.
In the NBA, creating one of the Flagggs was interesting as teams can only interview 13 players. That means seeing a realistic way for the Celtics to reach their first overall pick.
“The Celtics’ interview with Cooper Flag also gave us multiple sources. Now, this doesn’t mean they won’t trade up to the top 10.”
“At least, that’s how it works in the draft combine, the team can interview up to 13 players, which means they had the Cooper Flag.
“If they really go back to this offseason… I think it’s interesting that the Celtics made it a point to interview it (FLAGG).

O’Connor went on to speculate whether the Celtics could convince Nico Harrison to abandon the flag for a package that includes Jalen Brown and some picks.
“Boston calls Nico. They provide Jaylen Brown and how many first round picks will they shoot? Nico? Will Dallas and their entire decision-making unit listen?
It’s certainly bold to trade Cooper Flag, a pick that could serve as Nico Harrison’s lifeline in his role as Mavericks GM.
But one of his justifications of risking the Mavericks’ long-term future by swapping Luka Donsic was that he is not the GM he has to deal with. Harrison was definitely able to do this.
