The 2024-25 season was an emotional roller coaster for the Dallas Mavericks. At the deadline, the team traded All-NBA PG Luka Doncic for the Los Angeles Lakers.

In return, Mavs received Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the first round pick of 2029. The second half of last season was a chaos and fans were furious with GM Nico Harrison. However, the team has a new lease in their lives after landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Prior to the 2025-26 season, Dallas was able to make changes to the roster. NBA insider Michael Scott reported that Daniel Gafford is a trade candidate to watch.

Will the Dallas Mavericks trade Daniel Gafford this offseason for adult Daniel Gafford?

The Mavericks traded for Daniel Gafford Center at the 2023-24 deadline. Dallas sent a first-round pick to Washington in exchange for Richian Holmes and Gafford. He played in 29 regular season games and made 21 starts after being bought by the Mavs. During the 2024 playoffs, Gaford started all 22 games with Dallas’ run to the NBA Finals. During the 2024-25 season, Gafford played 57 of his 82 games, making a 31 start.

From mid-February to late March, Daniel Gafford missed out on his 21 straight wins in Grade 3 MCL Sprain. According to NBA insider Michael Scott, the Big Man is a trade candidate this offseason. Scotto said Gafford had the chance and the Mavs would not agree to an extension of this offseason. Former round pick Derek Lively is a year away from qualifying for an extension.

Michael Scott reported that the 26-year-old is seeking a raise this offseason. He is expected to make $14.39 million between 2025 and 2026. Dallas already has Anthony Davis on the largest contract. On top of that, Kyrie Irving has a $43 million player option next season. It may be difficult for Mavs to find a significant wage increase for Gafford. Check if the team is considering trading this offseason at 26.
