The LA Lakers may be on the verge of trading one of the best players as they have not re-signed their team.
The LA Lakers have made many big moves this offseason. The Lakers added some firepower to help LeBron James and Luka Donsic compete for the championship.
Things weren’t off to a good start as Rob Perinka managed to lose Dorian Finney Smith in free agency by not agreeing to pay him.
However, he managed to redeem himself as Perinka went outside and landed Jake Laravia and DeAndre Ayton at his free agency.
And with the slightest help of Luka Doncic, the Lakers signed Marcus Smart this weekend after agreeing to a deal with Washington’s Wizards this weekend.
But Rob Perlinka doesn’t want to make a deal with Lakers Jordan Goodwin. Is this because he has a much bigger deal in mind in the second half of this season?
NBA Insider Jake Weinbach used X to discuss the situation with the LA Lakers. He believes that the situation between the two sides is something to be seen.
As Austin Reeves reduced his four-year, $89.2 million contract extension, the Lakers could lose Reeves at a free agency, especially if he refuses a player’s option. To avoid losses, Rob Perinka moved Reeve to get some return for his expiration contract.
The situation with the Lakers in “Austin Reeves” is something that will be monitored throughout the league.
“The Reaves reportedly refused a four-year, $89.2 million extension from the Lakers last month, and there is widespread hope that they will be an unlimited free agent by rejecting his $14.8 million player option next summer.
“If both sides are far away in an extended talk, the Lakers can shop for the value of a 27-year-old security guard and avoid the possibility of losing anything when the 2026 Free Agency comes.”
Earlier this year, Austin Reeves agents warned the Lakers after seeing some trade rumours about the Star Guard.
But most of the time, Reaves doesn’t say much to suggest that he will see his future elsewhere. In fact, the Raves praised Lakers head coach JJ Reddick and spoke about his excitement as he plays under him next season.
On his side, Reaves says he wants to be a lifelong laker. However, his desire to make more money could lead to him going elsewhere, while gaining a more prominent role.
Hopefully, for the Lakers and Reeve, both sides can reach some kind of agreement and expand their working relationship.
However, the way new CBA rules limit mass spending may have to consider forcing the Lakers to walk revitalization.
