Former Boston Celtics player Paul Pierce has tipped the OKC Thunder as a potential trading destination for Nikola Jokic.
The firing of Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone creates a wave of uncertainty around the franchise, and Pierce believes he can even lose Jokic.
He has another great season and despite the overwhelming situation around the franchise, Jokic is one of the candidates to win the MVP trophy.
Under Malone’s leadership, Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets have transformed from the Fringe Western Conference Team to Championship candidates.
Jokic made it clear that he had no comments on the decision. This was contrary to what Eddie Johnson said when the news broke.
Previously, Paul Pierce, who revealed that Jokic could force himself to do his own path, named OKC Thunder as the ideal location for Jokic.
What makes this trade dangerous is the fact that both Jokic and Shai Gilgauss Alexander are key contenders for the MVP Trophy this season.
It may be difficult to have both on the same team, but the fact that Thunder has assets to carry out the trade makes it easier.
Speaking about “tickets and the truth,” Paul Pierce said:
“The thing about OKC is that they have got their assets, they suggest something that no one else can suggest.
They built it to be good for the next 10 years. ”
Thunder has some of the best young stars in the league along with SGA, but Pierce believes the franchise can kick out a few of them and bring in stars like Jokic.
“I’d like to give up on Chet, some pieces, some first round draft picks, and perhaps one of the good pieces over there.
“For the next five years, Joker, the top two MVP candidates, Shy and Joker, will win something over the next five years.”
Shy Gilgaus Alexander is one of the league’s most consistent goals scorers, and Jokic has the ability to defeat crime with his playmaking and pure domination.
Both are offensive geniuses, and SGA can even play defense. This makes it easier to set up your entire team around the duo.
Sam Presty did an incredible job building a roster of great young talent, but at one point they have to bring in their co-stars to help their All-Star Guards.
Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren are two great players, but they don’t have Jokic’s production level, so that’s what it takes to win the championship.
The Thunder has one of the best regular seasons in franchise history, but their playoff pedigree is still in question.
If they win the championship, they will silence many critics, but disappointment in the postseason could lead the franchise to create a bold move and something better than bringing another MVP candidate in the form of Jokic.
