The Golden State Warriors are the only team that will not add players to free agency. Fans were urged not to panic.
Free agency is doing slow movement for the Golden State Warriors, who have lost their long-term center Kevon Rooney and have yet to sign a single player.
Meanwhile, teams around the conference have bolstered trades for former Warriors star Kevin Durant, including the Houston Rockets, a team that lost in the playoffs.
The Rockets also added Clint Capella and Dorian Finney Smith to the free agency, with the La Lakers signing DeAndre Ayton to address the center’s issues.
The Warriors have yet to show their hand, but the pool of potential free agents has been shrinking since July 1st.
ESPN Insider Brian Windhorst says Warriors fans shouldn’t be worried, naming two additions he thinks could.
Speaking to ESPN’s first take, Brian Windhorst reminded him that the Warriors made a big move on their roster at the midseason trading deadline, buying up Jimmy Butler.
Windhorst says he’s confident the Warriors will move soon. He named Al Horford and DeAntony Melton as players who are hoping to join the team as free agents.
He added that depending on Jonathan Cuminga’s circumstances, it could also be incoming calls via trade.
He states: “We hope they will have some signings in the near future, and they hope they will sign Al Horford.
“And they have Jonathan Cuminga, the most restricted free agent in the market, and they’re going to do something with it.
“They are going to re-sign him or sign him for something and exchange him.
Al Horford’s contract with the Boston Celtics has expired, and he is deeply affiliated with the Golden State.
Steve Kerr is a huge admirer of Horford, a player who fits the Warriors timeline, and they were urged to go all out to sign a future Hall of Fame.
Melton was with the Warriors last year, but was traded after suffering from a torn ACL. He is expected to be the perfect start to the upcoming season.
The Warriors were warned that Jonathan Kuminga’s dilemma could hang down in the summer ahead of free agency.
Windhorst warns that an immediate solution may not be visible. He states:
“Recover your assets for him or protect him. Don’t stress about the warriors.”
The Sacramento Kings are the team that has the largest link to Cuminga, but no agreement was found.
