Arsenal is understood to be ahead of Bayern Munich in the race to sign Nico Williams this summer.
The gunners need a refresh on the offensive line in light of the 2024/25 campaign featuring injuries and Gulf targets between the Mikel Arteta man and Liverpool.
The North London-based outfit is second in the Premier League table, 12 points behind the Reds, shorter than the competitors (69) (53).
To that end, an upgrade in the form of Nico Williams, a long-term target, will be plausible in the next transfer window.
Arsenal ahead of Bayern for Nico Williams Transfer
Arsenal may find themselves competing against Bundesliga giants Bayern this summer for Williams’ signature.
But as far as the aspect of living at Emirates Stadium is concerned, the good news is that they are on a good start to their European rivals.
The Bayern giants will need to arrange for the sale of players to promote the athletic Bilbao Winger’s potential move.
“It is not true that Bayern Munich is taking the lead over Nico Williams. At this point, I think Williams is closer to Arsenal than Bayern Munich. Bundesliga clubs are not as specific as they are in the current situation. Christian Falk notified CatedOffside with a column in his latest Fact file.
“Williams is still very high on Bayern’s list, but sports director Max Ebal has to sell his players first. They want to sell Kingsley Coman (linked to Tottenham, Newcastle and Saudi Arabia).
“Serge Gunavrie is also on the sales list, but at this point the club is not interested, so Bayern has to wait to see if they can sell for Coman.”
Williams quickly boosted Arsenal’s offense
There is no doubt that Arsenal’s forward line disappointed the gunners in 2024/25 over hopes for a Premier League title.
Gabriel Jesus is very injurious and Kai Herberts is not a consistent scorer, so you need to strengthen your options centrally, but signing Williams is a step in the right direction.
Comparing Spain International to the potential competition in the UK’s capital, Gabriel Martinelli, already has a noticeable disparity.
The former, a junior at Martinelli in the year, currently averages goal contributions every 162.43 minutes, while the latter is one rate every 227.27 minutes.
player | the goal | assist | Several minutes for each target contribution |
Nico Williams | 9 | 7 | 162.43 |
Gabriel Taney | 7 | 4 | 227.27 |
It’s a bit surprising to see sports director Andrea Berta reportedly instructed to make the deal come true this summer.
