Manchester United is reportedly ready to try again for a potential relocation of Brentford right-winger Brian Mbemo, who is also a target for Tottenham.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are expected to return with a new bid from Cameroon International, and are likely to remain calm about their competition with the Spurs.
The report states that Man Utd previously failed with a £55 million bid, but Brentford will remain open to Mbeumo sales if it receives more than £60 million.
Mbeumo was one of the most productive offensive players in the Premier League in 2024/25, scoring 20 goals and contributing seven assists in 38 games.
As United endures a really poor season, it makes sense for someone on Mbemo’s profile to appeal to them very much.
Brian Mbemo was able to take Manchester United to another level
Mbeumo may have taken a little longer to reach the top than some players, but at 25, he appears to be in something that could be a very strong peak in his career.
Playing for a team like Brentford, while finishing as the fourth top scorer in the Premier League, certainly shouldn’t be sniffed…
player | game | the goal |
Mohamed is wrong | 38 | 29 |
Alexander Isaac | 34 | twenty three |
Erling Haaland | 31 | twenty two |
Brian Mbemo | 38 | 20 |
Chris Wood | 36 | 20 |
Given United struggled so badly with goals last season, it’s clear that Mbeumo is the upgrade they need for low-performance performances like Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.
The league’s top scorers for MUFC were Bruno Fernandez and Amado Diallo, both scoring eight times in a total.
If Mbeumo brings the Brentford shape with him to Old Trafford and can successfully link with the new signature Matheus Cunha, things may seem more promising for Reuben Amorim’s side next season.
Will Brian Mbeumo chase after Thomas Frank from Tottenham?
One thing that shouldn’t be ignored is that Thomas Frank has just left his role as Brentford manager, replacing Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou.
Mbeumo obviously played great football under Frank, so it makes sense to feel like he wants to link with Danish tacticians again with the Spurs.
However, Sky Sports claims that Mbeumo is currently leaning towards United.
