Newcastle United may have signed Anthony Elanga this summer, but this is the only highlight for Eddie Howe so far.

No. 1 target movement Joao Pedro and impressive sensation Hugo Ekitike have failed in recent weeks, but Howe was also keen to sign Bryan Mbeumo, but it appears Manchester United have taken him from the Magpie.

Cameroon International was an excellent versatile option for Howe next season, as he could play in the front three.

So he needs to explore other options ahead of the new season.

Benjamin Sesco and Julian Alvarez have both been linked to the recent move towards Newcastle. Either one would make an epic signature, there is no doubt about that.

With everything, transfer fees can be the biggest issue with either transaction. This may mean that Howe may have to turn elsewhere to sign elsewhere.

According to African Foot, Newcastle took part in the race for Evan Speculation and Signature.

Toon is claimed to have recently held a talk with the player’s aides as he is exploring whether to formalize the player’s interest.

He only reported £22 million costs, and Howe can improve his attack options while moving for other targets.

The speculation may even be Hau’s own answer to Mbeumo, given his positional flexibility, if he signed Toon this summer.

Why Newcastle must sign Evan Speculation

Elanga’s signature is promising, giving Howe some depth to the sides, but it’s clear that another centre forward is needed.

Callum Wilson left the club at the expiration of his contract, leaving only Alexander Isaac and William Osla as the club’s only strikers.

Brentford’s last season, Mbeumo scored 20 goals and nine assists. He ran the season either as a main striker or on the right side, showing versatility.

Though speculation may not match this tally of 29 goal contributions, he still scored 13 goals and scored 10 assists in all competitions.

Like the Brentford star, the Iborian played as a striker for a French club or on either wing. This kind of flexibility can give Howe a great boost.

The speculations in Europe and performances in Europe last season make Howe more positive. Certainly, the attackers were brighter when compared to their Europa League peers.

According to FBREF, not only did he successfully take-ons per 90 (2.67) and promoted to the top 12%, but he also ranked in the top 5% against touches in the opposition penalty area (7.21) per 90.

He also ranks in the top 12% on Aerials Won and in the top 16% with tackles per 90, highlighting that he is solid from the ball and is always trying to win it for his team. Mbeumo may not be prolific in the air, but his workplace is also exemplary.

U23 Scout Antonio Mango welcomed the 24-year-old as “electric” earlier this season and is available for £22 million, making perfect sense for Howe to move forward.

Newcastle may have missed the Mbuemo, but speculations say they may have the next best.
