Newcastle United reportedly remains keen to sign Liverpool players.
On that occasion, the Magpie fails to convince the Reds to let Jarrel Quanza go, but he appears to be firmly on their radar.
It says Newcastle believes it can complete Quansah’s deal for around £30 million, according to a Times report.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool’s attitude has been relaxed ever since, as the report suggests that Newcastle was previously willing to pay £50 million to a 22-year-old.
Quansah has not been able to establish himself regularly in Anfield, so perhaps it feels like it’s a good opportunity for him to move on and become a more important player at St James’ Park.
Liverpool can do well to win cash on Jarrell Kuanza, but they can do it at the right back too
Quansah is clearly a long way from being the most important player in Arne Slot’s Liverpool Squad, and pure profits for homemade players can make £30 million profits very attractive from a business standpoint.
But at the same time, the LFC will likely find themselves lacking the right-back depth next season as Trent Alexander Arnold is about to close his contract.
As has been widely reported by BBC Sport and others, Alexander-Arnold is currently planning to take part in a free transfer to Real Madrid.
Quansah could still be a key team and rotation player next season, allowing him to play center backs and right backs.
However, as the player himself may not be satisfied with such a role, Newcastle may be a good move for him to promote his career.
It will be interesting to see how this saga develops, but NUFC certainly seems optimistic about returning to Quansah this summer.
