Newcastle will be busy during the summer transfer period, with one expected signature being the new striker. However, this has a strong interest in Alexander Isaac, the club’s leading marksman, selected by Arsenal and Liverpool.
Callum Wilson is set to leave Newcastle when his contract expires at the end of the season. The nine-inning Caped England International won a five-year spell with Tyneside scoring 49 times, but the major injuries issues of the past 24 months have reduced his importance and now it is time for him to move on.
Wilson’s imminent departure could mean that Newcastle would need a new striker to act as a backup to Isaac, and William Osla is not yet trusted by Eddiehau. And it has been reported that one of their main targets is in the Premier League.
Newcastle wants Calvert Lewin as a replacement for Calm Wilson
As reported by Football Insider, Dominic Calver Trewin is one of the two top targets that Newcastle will have to replace Wilson this summer. The Carabao Cup winners have already been in touch with the 28-year-old representative ahead of the opening of the transfer window in June.
Like Wilson, Calvert Lewin was finished on his contract at the end of the season and considering he would be staying at Merseyside with multiple offers from Everton, he defeated them all. And for clubs like Newcastle, who have documented issues with financial fair play in recent years, signing him as a free agent would be an ideal move.
While Newcastle supporters are likely worried about his injury record, Calvert Lewin could be a great backup option for ISAK. They wouldn’t want another injury-prone striker to be Isaac’s researcher, given that Wilson has already done that in recent years.
