The Newcastle United striker pursuit appears to continue until the final day of the transfer window. Eddie Howe is not yet Alexander Isaac. He has not returned to training after being protected at Liverpool this summer.
That’s a transaction that is likely to last until the transfer deadline on Monday. Meanwhile, the magpies need to focus on their central target. One of those players is Jorgenstrandlasen. The Norwegian star scored the first few goals of the new campaign on Tuesday night, hitting two against West Ham United.
The Northeast Giants appear to have a few options lined up if Strandlersen’s deal doesn’t come true.
The latest in Newcastle striker search
This summer, magpie Strandlersen’s pursuit is certainly frustrating. Howe’s side recently saw a £50 million bid rejected by his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and returned with a new offer before the deadline.
But the former Celta Vigo star is not the only Norwegian striker who they see. According to a recent report from The Athletico’s Madrid striker Alexander Sollos’ move has been “discussed” at St. James Park in the past few days.
Of course, he is one of Newcastle’s many targets, but with the few options and close to deadlines, the 29-year-old’s move can be realized.
As for his prices, Atleti will report that he will accept more than the £30 million spent on strikers last summer.
Why Sorloth is a good signing
If Newcastle can sign Sollos this summer, there’s no doubt they’ll land the striker at the top of his game. He was described as a “superficial” player by manager Diego Simeone, and was excellent for Atleti in the previous period.
In 54 games across all competitions for the Spanish Giants, Sollos scored 24 goals. Impressively, he found the back of the net 20 times in La Liga, playing 35 games and 1561 minutes. This is equivalent to a 17 full 90 minute game.
Already, the former Crystal Palace star has burned the season. Although he has only played 76 minutes this term, he has already scored his first goal of the season, earning an opener against Elche, who finished a 1-1 draw last weekend.
It’s easy to see why Sorloth is considered a better signature than Strand Larsen, despite being at another stage in his career. The Wolf Star has been shining for the old gold so far, and before that I was impressed by the La Liga.
Last season, Molineux scored a 25-year-old goal in a 25-year-old Premier League match, six less goals than Sorloth managed at Atleti. In Celta Vigo’s second full season in La Liga, he bagged 13 goals less than his fellow-managed.
His consistent experience of scoring regular goals may be more interested in Newcastle signing Sollos this summer. The former RB Leipzig star, who can be considered a journeyman, has played across Europe and has built up important experiences and tricks to finding the back of the net.
In fact, the underlying statistics for next season suggest that Sortloth will be a better signing than Strand Larsen. For example, he averaged 1.15 goals per 90 minutes, compared to just 0.49 goals in each game on the old Gold Striker.

The fees to sign Sollos this summer won’t break Newcastle banks, especially if you sell ISAK. The Norwegian star is a true number nine with a great record behind him in recent seasons. It’s easy to see why he’s a better addition to Strandlersen.
Sollos could be the one who answers their problems as Magpies are trying to bring in a striker who can regularly find the back of the net.
