Following the inconsistent campaign, Nick Pope has been replaced at Newcastle United by a magpie that is reportedly racing to sign a goalkeeper worth £29 million this summer.
Newcastle is fighting to sign the Pope upgrade
Since returning from his injury, there have been many question marks as to whether the Pope should still be Newcastle’s No. 1.

He was sometimes impressed this season.
On that front, the main name mentioned over the past few months is James Trafford. Burnley’s shot stopper has excelled in the championship this season and is definitely a player who should be playing in the Premier League. He reportedly had personal conditions in place for a while with Newcastle, but he was finally able to complete his transition to Tyneside this summer.
That said, Burnley’s potential promotion to the Premier League still managed to throw a spanner on the production.
According to CatedOffside, Newcastle is currently competing to sign Rome Mile Subiral, who has halted his contract with the Italian club amid interests from St James Park, Chelsea and Manchester City.
His current deal won’t expire until 2027, but Rome was keen to tie the goalkeeper to fresh terms, something that has proven to be more difficult than expected. If he left this summer, he reportedly would have been valued at 35 million euros (£29 million).
Given that Svilar is just 25 years old, Eddie Howe has got a shot stopper at the peak of his power and will soon be upgraded with the current No. 1 Pope this summer.
“Revelation” Sviller should be seen
Although his career has not always been on a linear path to success, Subiller has recently been a Roman uncontroversial starter and has managed to get the most important decisions of his career when summer comes. So, Newcastle was able to welcome the Pope and their new No. 1 upgrades for years to come to St. James Park.

The numbers don’t lie, representing exactly how Svilar improves aspects of Howe, combining his talent to stop shots with his configured ball-playing ability. Last season, it was called a “revelation” by analyst Ben Matinson, and its verdict remains true for a year.
Once summer arrives, Newcastle will need to move as quickly as possible to try to defeat Manchester City to Svillar’s signature. He checks all the boxes for what Howe needs. The Roman star is still in his prime, with no issues with the front line to stop the shot, and has that important modern ability to the ball the Pope is undoubtedly missing.
However, it is still unclear whether the magpie can seduce the movement around something like Manchester City.
