Newcastle United are reportedly debating the possibility of a transfer for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, as it will replace Callum Wilson this summer.
Wilson could leave St James Park this summer after coming to the end of his contract, leaving a gap for Eddie Howe’s team.
Newcastle has Alexander Isaac as an indisputable starter ahead of time, but they probably need to be able to spin over a long season.
Although Isak was a star performer for NUFC, he has proven to be a bit more likely to get injured at times, so bringing in a cover makes sense.
Ollie Watkins in the name being discussed by Newcastle
According to an email report, there are several names that Newcastle discussed internally, one of which is villa frontman Watkins.
The future of England International appears to be in doubt this summer after attracting attention from people like Arsenal and Manchester United.
Perhaps it seems unlikely that Villa would sell Watkins, but when he offered him in January, it was known to be keen to receive a move to Arsenal.
While Newcastle doesn’t necessarily provide him with a significant role, I imagine that St. James’s park project can still be considered attractive to him.
Eddie Howe has done a great job since becoming Newcastle Manager and has regained the club to the Champions League next season.
Watkins played in the top European club competition last season, but Villa missed out on this qualifying round.
