After three transfer windows without many businesses, Newcastle is expected to spend a lot of money in the summer. Several areas have been identified as needing to be addressed, one of them being the striker’s position.
Alexander Isaac is strongly linked to his travels away from Newcastle in the summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool among clubs interested in Swedish superstars. However, the Carabao Cup winners expect him to stay, and their intention is that someone signs to compete with him and replaces Callum Wilson.
There have been some strikers linked to their journey to Newcastle in the summer, but Liam Dellup appears to be the most specific option at this stage. And there have been positive developments in this aspect over the past few weeks.
Newcastle discusses with Liam Dellup and his representatives
As TeamTalk reported, Newcastle recently held a “very positive” discussion with Dellup representatives to raise interest in Ipswich’s strikers. The report also confirmed that manager Eddie Howe spoke to the players personally to clarify the club’s interests.
Delap will almost certainly move this summer, with his £30 million release clause likely to be activated by multiple clubs. Things like Man United, Chelsea and Everton are interested in signing him, but at this stage it appears Newcastle has made the most progress towards the deal.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle completed Dellup’s signature this summer, but it is undoubtedly a great addition to their team and a clear upgrade for Wilson. But for now, there is work to do and interest from the club before anything can be completed.
