Newcastle United are poised to announce their first signing for the summer transfer period, with 18-year-old Spanish winger Antonio Cordero being set to join Magpies next month, according to IPAPER.

The promising young man is considered one of the Spanish talents, and Newcastle successfully defeated the tough competition between European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, ​​securing his signature.

Born in Jerez, southern Spain, Cordero began his football journey with local clubs such as Cadiz, Sevilla and Real Betis before landing in Malaga in 2021.

His time at Malaga was when he thrived especially among the “B-team” and named himself in the Spanish fifth tier, scoring an impressive 12 goals in just 17 appearances.

Scouts from some of the top European clubs have seen him play and the youngsters are impressed by them.

Magpies are set to continue their purpose of investing in young players who can become future stars, whether for their team or making big money from relocation.

Cordero’s consistent performance earned him a call for Malaga’s first team, making his professional debut in 2023.

Since then, he has established himself as a regular starter, accumulating 32 appearances for the La Liga 2 this season.

Newcastle first began contacting Cordero in January to investigate the possible pre-contract agreement. The lecture progressed smoothly, and the young winger visited Tyneside earlier this year with his family.

Cordero is expected to complete the final phase of his transfer in June. However, it is understood that he will not immediately join Eddie Howe’s first team. Instead, Newcastle plans to lend him out and send him to get more first team experiences.

Magpies are also interested in the moves of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
