Newcastle United is reportedly considering a swap deal to see Harvey Burns move to Aston Villa in exchange for promising midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
According to Mail Sport, Magpies are keen on Ramsey as they are looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of the upcoming season.
Despite his potential, Ramsey is limited this season under UNAI Emery, where gametime often prefers Morgan Rogers and Malcoa Sensio in the starting lineup.
Financial concerns at Villa Park could put pressure on the Midland Club to say goodbye to the young British if the right offer arrives.
Meanwhile, Burns is struggling to get a consistent start under Newcastle’s Eddie Howe.
Harvey Burns leaves Aston Villa?
The 27-year-old has been featured in 14 of Newcastle’s 30 Premier League matches, but remains behind Anthony Gordon in pecking order. But Burns has proven to be an effective option off the bench.
I read the email report:
“The word for the game is that the villa has to sell at least one. Newcastle is like Jacob Ramsey, but can you afford to spend a decent chunk of your budget on the midfielder? Unless it’s manufactured for every party, I’m not sure.
Newcastle United will benefit from signing Ramsey
The proposed swap agreement would benefit both clubs.
Hau is reportedly eager to build a team with depth and versatility, aiming to consistently challenge a top-4 finish.
As for the villa, Burns’ potential additions will add offensive talent and experience to Emery’s side, potentially offsetting the losses from Ramsey’s departure.
Magpies are also targeting the movement of Everton’s strike card minik Calver Trewin.
