Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon reportedly made it clear he would choose Liverpool over Arsenal or Chelsea in speculation that would link him to several Premier League clubs.
With an estimated £75 million, Gordon emerged as one of his most popular players this summer.
The English winger was linked to a trip to Liverpool last summer, but Newcastle United were ultimately able to support the Magpies in Champions League qualifiers and maintain players with clubs that end the trophy drought.
Anthony Gordon likes to join Liverpool
According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, Gordon preferred to join Liverpool.
Both London clubs are believed to be exploring options to strengthen the left side of the offense ahead of the new season, with Gordon’s name prominently on the list of contenders.
Despite strong interest from Premier League rivals, Bailey reports that Gordon’s heart lies in his boyhood club, Liverpool.
Bailey said: “I think one day he’ll probably end up in Liverpool. Will it be this summer? I’m very suspicious of that.
“But Liverpool is his preferred option. He’s on the list of other clubs I say. Both Chelsea and Arsenal want an upgrade on that left side. That’s no secret, they’re the players they like.”
Gordon is a valuable asset for Newcastle United.
After arriving from Everton in January 2023, he became a key figure under Eddie Howe, praised his work ethic, impending ability, and direct offensive style.
Known for his direct and unpredictable style, Gordon has honestly explained his own strengths:
“I know it’s a nightmare for the people I play against.”
For now, Gordon appears to remain in St. James Park, but his long-term ambition to wear the Liverpool Red has not been noticed.
Winger’s desire to play for Anfield may still be a reality, even if he’s not in this window.
The Reds also have an advantage in the race signing Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech.
