Arsenal right-back Julian Timber is rated as the best player in the Premier League in his current position, after surprising statistics have been revealed about the Dutchman.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for the Gunners since joining from Ajax in the summer of 2023, but missed much of his first season in north London with a serious injury.
Still, Timber has recovered admirably from the initial setback, performing at a very consistent level last season and continuing to improve this term.
According to data published in the Evening Standard, Timber ranks at the top of the Arsenal team for tackles and chances created so far this season.
Julian Timber’s stats highlight his importance at both ends of the pitch for Arsenal
Looking at these numbers, it’s clear how much Timber contributes at both ends of the pitch, and Arsenal fans will be delighted to have such a complete player in that position.
The international break has thrown club football into a bit of disarray, but Arsenal fans are looking forward to seeing Timber in action again this weekend in their trip to Fulham.
And with Champions League football starting again next week, fans are likely to want to know how to buy Arsenal vs. Atletico Madrid tickets so they don’t miss out on such a big European game.
Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes proved important for Paris Saint-Germain when they won last season, even if full-back is not the most glamorous position in football.
Timber is currently raising his game and could possibly be a driving force for the AFC in the Champions League, as Mikel Arteta aims to help the club win the tournament for the first time in its history.
Julian Timber has made the right-back position his own.
With Ben White injured again, it’s clear Timber will remain the first choice for the position for the foreseeable future.
White was also a star performer for the Gunners in the years before Timber arrived, and before suffering fitness issues that plagued him for much of last season and the start of this season.
Still, that hasn’t detracted from Timber’s good form, making it increasingly difficult for White to regain his position unless he himself suffers another serious injury.
Of course, Timber can also play at centre-back or left-back if needed, so that could be an option if Arteta wants to use him and White in the same line-up in the future.
