Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson was heavily linked with a move away from the club at the start of the season.
However, the experienced Scotland international ended up staying at the club. There are rumors that he could be on the move in January. However, Football Insider reports that there is no chance of the defender leaving the club midway through the season.
Liverpool must keep Robertson
It would be a mistake for Liverpool to sign an experienced defender in January. It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to offer him a short extension. His contract ends in the summer of 2026, but he could still be a very useful option for the team.
Milos Kerkes joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window, but the Hungarian is still adjusting to life at his new club. He is not yet at his best, so Liverpool will have to keep another quality at their disposal. Robertson could be a very valuable option for them due to his quality and experience.
Andrew Robertson expected to stay until the end of the season
Pete O’Rourke said: “Maybe later in the season it will be clearer what Andy Robertson’s future is.”
“There’s no chance[of him]moving in January, Liverpool won’t allow that to happen and[they]won’t think they don’t need Andy Robertson after that.”
“His experience will be invaluable to Liverpool from now until the end of the season, and he is also vice-captain at Liverpool, which shows how much Arne Slott values him.”
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. He has been linked with the La Liga club in recent weeks. If Robertson is available on a free transfer at the end of the season, there is unlikely to be a lack of interest. Ideally, Liverpool should consider offering him a contract extension to keep him at the club for another season.
