Chelsea fans may have had mixed feelings when the club moved to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in the summer.
The Argentine was a bit of a controversial figure at Old Trafford, starting out as a promising young player with the potential to become a real world power.
However, a lack of consistency and signs of a poor attitude ultimately made Garnacho unpopular with Man United fans.
Garnacho didn’t get off to a particularly good start at Chelsea, with leading football statistics site WhoScored currently ruling that while Garnacho is a player with no outstanding strengths, his weaknesses are aerial duality and crosses, the latter being a bit of a problem for the winger…
This is pretty cruel from WhoScored’s perspective, even if it wasn’t originally intended that way.
Can Alejandro Garnacho turn his career around at Chelsea?
Garnacho shows signs of immense potential and perhaps needs the right manager to tap into it.
It’s not the first time Garnacho has faced that problem, as United had a number of quality players who weren’t performing at their best.
Perhaps the 21-year-old will blossom at Stamford Bridge over time, but that hasn’t quite happened for him yet.
Should Chelsea have signed Garnacho?
Chelsea’s decision to sign Garnacho seems a bit strange, despite having already brought in Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian in the summer.
If this deal does not go through, it would raise serious questions for the west London giants, who clearly have other areas of the squad that need strengthening, such as defense and goalkeeping.
