For a former UFC fighter, this is rough.
Keith Jardin may not be considered by many as a legend in the octagon. Still, in his five-year run in his promotion, he was battling some of the biggest names in MMA history, including Rashad Evans, Wonderray Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
“The Dean of Mean” won several seriously impressive victories over former light heavyweight icons Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin. His final appearance in the UFC was against Matt Hamill 15 years ago, in a skid who lost three games that ultimately cost him his job. He fought six more rounds for various organizations before retiring from the sport entirely.
When he recently appeared in Ariel Helwanishaw, Jardin became real about how life was like a post-UFC.
“I don’t care that you’re a UFC fighter,” Jardine said, appearing on the Ariel Helwani show. “It’s really fast. You’re competing with these guys for the role. If you’re going to become a character and sell the character, they don’t care that Keith Jardin is trying to become a plumber. They want to see interesting plumbers from the past.”
