Punjab Kings player Shashank Singh chose discarded Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw as for the future, but only if he could improve some things. Shashank also chose Allrounder’s Nitish Kumar Reddy as India’s next big one.
Shashank revealed that despite his many talents, he wouldn’t go right for Prithvi Shaw, who kept him out of the national team. The King of Punjab batsman feels that Shaw needs to return to his basics to get his touch back.

Shashank Singh will speak at Prithvi Shaw
During a podcast on the “Shubhankar Mishra” YouTube channel, Shashank Singh was asked about the future of Indian cricket. He named Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.
However, Shashank gave a surprise by naming Prithvi Shaw on this list, claiming that improving certain things can be very big in Indian cricket. He also advised to change a few things to make a comeback to the show.
“Yashasvi (Jaiswal) is certainly a big name. Shubman (Gill) is a very talented player. There are players on this list that are underrated – Prithvi Shaw – if you come back to his basics, you won’t be near him.
“There’s nothing wrong with him. He has a different perspective on things. He knows whether it’s right or wrong, but for now, if he can change his perspective on something specific, then I think no one is bigger than him,” he thought.
“These things include work ethic, fitness and some discipline. I’m 100% sure he might be doing that because he played Test cricket, but if he fixes a few things, he’ll get better,” the PBKS batter added.
Prithvi Shaw’s final international match
Prithvi Shaw last played an international match in July 2021. Since then, he has been running out of varsity due to form and fitness issues. The talented batsman has declined in height and has even been dropped from the Mumbai Langi team.
He was once considered the next opener of Indian cricket. However, he remained sold at the IPL 2025 auction, bringing another low for him.
Prithvi Shaw is now 25 years old and hopes to return to the run soon. He played five Tests in India and averaged 339 runs in his 155s and 250s with an average of 42.37. He scored all these runs on an impressive strike rate of 86.04.
Nitish Kumar Reddy – The next big thing in Indian cricket
When asked about the next big thing in Indian cricket, Shashank Singh welcomed the calm of Nitish Kumar Reddy because of his ability to run under pressure. He feels that Nitish will be supported even if he fails in a few games due to his immeasurable abilities.
“I think Nitish Kumar Reddy is one (the next big one). His batting is good and people see his potential. You can’t reach this level without working well.
“It’s about working well under pressure. I think Nitish did well under pressure. Even if he flops in a few games, he will work well under pressure and is right to back him up, so he’ll get backing,” he insisted.
Nitish Kumar Reddy will next represent SRH at IPL 2025. He suffered from side tensions that kept him out of India’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. However, he was cleared by the BCCI Center for Excellence after passing the fitness test.
Nitish was held for $6 trillion by Sunrisers Hyderabad prior to the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. He has immense ability to change the game with his skills, so he becomes an important player on his team both in the bat and the ball.
