Despite rumours swirling in the media, Italian goalkeeper Genrulugi Donnaruma has not currently discussed a potential transfer with either Manchester United or Chelsea.
At this stage, there will be no continued negotiations between the Paris Saint-Germain shot stopper and the Premier League giants, according to Fabrizio Romano, among well-known transfer experts.
Recently, reports emerged that link Donnaruma to a potential move towards England. Both United and Chelsea are said to be considering goalkeeping options ahead of the new season.
Man United and Chelsea want a new goalkeeper
This speculation gained traction following the uncertainty around the long-term future of both Andre Onana of Old Trafford and Robert Sanchez of Chelsea.
Romano provided the update with his X account:
“No consultations are underway at this stage between Gigio Donnarumma and Man United or Chelsea.
“No concrete, continuous despite reports.”
Still signing a contract with PSG until 2026, Donnarumma has focused on his role in the French capital, and at this point there was no formal approach from the Premier League club.
Gianluigi donnarumma was a star performer
The Italian goalkeeper was one of PSG’s best players last season and helped him win the treble under the leadership of manager Luis Enrique.
His future is subject to speculation as he had not previously signed a new contract with the club. Still, those rumors don’t have any traction for now, according to Romano.
Man United and Chelsea continue to evaluate the transfer market, with both clubs notably having a signature from the famous goalkeeper off the table in the long run. But for now, Gianluigi donnarumma is not part of either side’s concrete plan.
