In an unexpected development, the Detroit Pistons stamped tickets to the 2025 NBA playoffs.
After years of brutal mediocrity, the Detroit Pistons have brought about an unlikely breakout season in current books.
Leading to the emergence of Cade Cunningham superstars, the Pistons secured their first trip since 2019, 44 wins, sixth in the Eastern Conference, and a trip to the league’s postseason arena.
The exciting part is set to begin as the Pistons are scheduled for a major first round slug festival against the much-loved third New York Knicks.
And for them to have a massive fight, Draymond Green believes Detroit needs a great production of the players he’s been his teammate for months this season.
The Detroit Pistons faced the New York Knicks this year, winning a 3-1 card in the 2024-25 regular season series.
While this has some importance, the playoff stages provide a very different atmosphere. New York has a wealth of postseason exposure and has competed for titles over the past two seasons, but Detroit is undoubtedly a beginner in the field, looking for the first real taste of true high-stakes NBA action.
Given this harsh contrast, Draymond Green is confident that Dennis Schroeder will play a major role in the Pistons in playing against several battle-tested Knicks teams, including Jalen Branson, Karl Anthonytowns, Mikal Bridge, Og Anunoby and Josh Hart.
“I’m going to tell you, the underrated work in this series is Dennis Schroeder,” the Golden State Warriors star said on the Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.
“Dennis Schroeder is different in these playoffs. Mann. Dennis Schroeder brings experience to that Pistons team and those playoffs that help stabilize the younger people who don’t have much teams and their teams.
“You got these young people who weren’t in the playoffs, and you got the DS that made you a meaningful playoff series and brought that level of experience.”
Schroeder, a coveted Pistons pickup since February last year, has finally found a home in Motor City after bouncing off both the Brooklynnet and the Warriors this season.
In his entry to the Pistons, Schroeder instantly hit a solid impression around the group where JB Bickerstaff praised him for his shocking “killer instincts.”
A 12-year NBA Pro, Schroder has a wealth of experience under postseason pressure as he was part of several competing teams in the past. In 2023 he played a particularly important role in the unlikely trip to the Western Conference Finals for the 7th seeded LA Lakers.
Beyond Schroeder, the Pistons will also need leadership from Tobias Harris, Malik Beasley and Tim Hardaway Jr. The trio are inexperienced veterinarians and balances their inexperienced.
The Pistons and Knicks are set for Game 1 of the first round of the Eastern Conference on April 19th, and we hope that Green is just a very competitive series from both of these teams.
“I think the Pistons can give Knicks a problem with this series,” Green said. “I don’t think this is a cake walk.”
