Norma Dumont earned her ninth win with a shocking split decision over Ketlen Vieira inside the Octagon at UFC Vegas 110.
After three and a half minutes of intense competition, Vieira managed to secure a takedown with 90 seconds left in the first. She quickly retrieved Dumont. As Dumont tried to scramble, Vieira locked in an arm triangle choke but couldn’t force the tap and we were sent to the second stanza.
Vieira followed a similar game plan in the second round, securing another big takedown with less than two minutes remaining. This time Dumont blocked Vieira’s submission, but ultimately lost 2-0 to Vieira and returned to the stool.
Vieira pursued a clinching game early in the third set, but Dumont showed urgency and threw his hands recklessly, leaving Vieira’s nose bloodied. Vieira began to show signs of slowing down, giving Dumont a chance to land the much-needed knockout blow.
Unfortunately, that moment never came, but Dumont’s surge in the third round was enough to swing two of the three scorecards in her favor, securing her sixth straight win inside the Octagon.
official results: Norma Dumont def. Ketlen Vieira by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).
