According to German outlet Chemnitzer Morgen Post, Arsenal continues to actively negotiate with RB Leipzig for the signature of Benjamin Sesco.
Their main target remains sporting striker Victor Gyoker, but they are working on a backup plan in case they fail to sign the Swedish international striker.
A meeting between Arsenal and sports authorities took place this week to agree to the fee for Gyoker’s signature, but the contract has not yet been achieved.
Arsenal is working on signing a new striker
This summer, Mikel Arteta, who is eager to sign a new attacker, has identified Gyoker and Sesko as his main transfer targets.
After finishing second in the league for three consecutive seasons, the Arsenal boss has now decided to sign a new number nine to lead the offense.
The growing belief that Arsenal had been escaping Sesco, and the Gunners had prioritized Gyoker’s move. However, Chemnitzer MorgenPost reports that Arsenal has not closed Sesco’s doors and remains in ongoing debate with RB Leipzig about a potential deal.
The Slovenian striker, who scored 21 goals in all Leipzig competitions last season, is considered a player with great potential due to his physicality and the quality of his goal scores.
He is younger than Gyoker and has more room for improvement over the next few years.
The gunners lacked a deadly presence in advance.
Arsenal’s impressive division now relies heavily on Gabriel Jesus and Kai Herberts, but the lack of consistent, large amounts of goal-scorers was evident in key matches, especially in the title run-in.
Adding clinical finishers like Sesko and Gyoker will give you an edge over clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp, head of global football at Red Bull, praised Sesko for his “incredible skill set.”
